We are pleased to continue to serve your golfing needs and remain dedicated to ensuring that you have a great experience whenever you visit Springbrook or Naperbrook. The 2024 season was excellent for golf, with the weather providing an early start in February, and overall favorable weather and conditions throughout the entire season, which resulted in a nearly record number of rounds played.
The 2024 season continued what has been a very busy few years for improvements at both courses. The new #18 hole at Naperbrook opened in the summer along with the new chipping and practice green.
Naperbrook also had its 34-year-old irrigation system replaced in the fall, with that project wrapping up this month. Contractors will be back in the early spring to start up the new system and complete testing of it, which will provide Naperbrook with a more efficient and reliable irrigation system.
For the 2025 golf season, expansion and improvements are planned for 2-3 tees at Naperbrook. This project will be similar to the work completed on the #18 tee, replacing current tees with larger teeing space and using sod to allow the tee to be quickly opened for play. This work is part of our Master Improvement Plan for Springbrook and Naperbrook, which will be reviewed and updated in 2025. Part of that review will explore the feasibility of significant updates at Naperbrook Golf Course, similar to the work done at Springbrook. The Park District will be soliciting feedback from our patrons and members in 2025 to help determine what changes, if any, are needed to our courses in the future. Expect to see more information regarding that process early next year.
We are also very excited to be replacing the entire golf cart fleet at Springbrook with 60, 2025 EZGO electric carts. These carts, which are expected to be available for the start of the 2025 season, will also include new GPS screens, which will be a significant upgrade from the current GPS system. Naperbrook’s cart fleet, which is only 1-3 years old, will be replaced at a later date.
